Prevalence and Associated Factors of Resistant Hypertension among Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease: An Example from Cameroon

Background: Resistant arterial hypertension (RAH) is common in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). We aimed to study the prevalence and associated factors of RAH CKD 2 referral hospitals Cameroon. Material method: This was a cross-sectional analytical study, from December 2020 May 2021. All consenting over 18 years age stage 2-5 ND included. Socio demographic, clinical biological data were collected. Patients considered have if they on 4 antihypertensive drugs or patient 3 drugs, including 1 diuretic who presented office blood pressure ≥ 140/90 mmhg BP 135/85 after home self-measurement. Home self-measurement performed using an OMRON brand electronic monitor every morning evening for three consecutive days average values calculated. Chi-2 exact Fischer tests used assess association between variables. p<0,05 significant. Results: A total 194 included, 62.89% male. The mean 61.89 (13.13) years; 34.54% (67/194) had 3a, 26.80% (52/194) 3b, 15.46% (30/194) 21.13% (41/194) 5.
